{Study Guide.pdf}
Honors Homework assignment:
*Standard- You can do this HW assignment for extra credit to replace your lowest HW grade with a 100.
Step 1: Find 2 News articles about the United States' current relationship with Russia. Make sure the articles are reliable (use credible news outlets) and appropriate for class discussions. Print these articles out and attach them to your HW paper. Read both articles and fully understand them.
Step 2: Write or type (double spaced) 1 page that answers the question: Is the Cold War over?
You must reference evidence from both articles to support your argument that the Cold War is either over or not over.
Example of how to reference an article: ....according to Crooks (the author of the article), "Cats have nine lives," therefore supporting the theory that cats live longer than dogs.
Suggestion on how to format your paper:
Paragraph 1: Intro.. includes history of the cold war and where we left off discussing the "end" of the cold war.
Paragraph 2: Reason # 1 the Cold war is/is not over. Include supporting evidence from 1 or both of your news articles. Include your logic or reasoning that interprets the evidence to support your argument.
Paragraph 3: Reason # 2 the Cold war is/is not over. Include supporting evidence from 1 or both of your news articles. Include your logic or reasoning that interprets the evidence to support your argument.
You can include another "reasoning paragraph" If you would like. You are also welcome to use more than 2 news articles for evidence.
Conclusion Paragraph: Restate your argument, revisit each reason in a concise way, and "conclude" the essay in a persuasive manner.
Assigned: Thursday 1-5
Due: Monday 1-9 (Snow or no Snow it is due!)
Weight: Homework Grade

Life under a Dictator
•You are going to write a letter to family in America as someone living in a totalitarian regime.
•You can pick any of the regimes we learned about (other than then one you “taught” today.
–The requirements for the letters:
–Choose one of two perspectives: someone who is an enemy of the state OR someone who is a member of the party.
–Students must use at least 5 facts you learned about that regime and try to describe what they think a day in their life would be like.
–Letters should cover the entire left hand side
